China complains to UN Space Station about Elon Musk

China has complained to the UN Space Station over concerns that Elon Musk’s Space-X satellites could hit the Chinese Space Station.

Following the launch of Space-X satellites owned by Elon Musk,Beijing complained to the UN Space Station, explaining that satellites sent on July 1 and October 21 were prevented from hitting the Chinese Space Station at the last minute.

China said it was concerned about the safety of both space stations and the three astronauts who were accustomed to the station, noting that Musk had ignored space treaty obligations.

In a complaint to the UN on December 6, the Chinese government said the Chinese Space Station carried out Chinese “avoidance maneuvers” to avoid collisions with Starlink satellites launched by Space-X.

Chinese Space Agency spokesman Zhao Lijian said the United States must take urgent measures to prevent such an incident from happening again, accusing Washington of failing to meet its obligations to “protect the safety of astronauts” under the 1967 agreement on the peaceful use of
space.

Space-X satellites owned by Elon Musk aim to improve by launching 200,000 Starlink satellites so far into areas with insufficient internet
access.
