Central Asia-China Summit was held with the participation of 6 leaders

The Central Asia-China Summit, known as the platform for cooperation with China by the Central Asian countries Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan, was held online, while Kyrgyzstan President Caparov said, “This organization is an effective platform for our countries to coordinate joint efforts in all kinds of struggles.”

The Central Asia-China Summit, known as the Central Asia and China cooperation platform, was held online today to mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of relations between Central Asian countries and China. The summit was attended by Kazakhstan’s President Kasim Cömert Tokayev, Kyrgyzstan President Sadir Caparov, Uzbekistan President Shevket Mirziyoyev, Tajikistan President Imamali Rahman and Turkmenistan President Kurbankulu Berdimuhammedov, as well as Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Kyrgyzstan’s President Caparov expressed confident that joint efforts would lead to the establishment of lasting peace on long-suffering Afghan territory. President Caparov stressed that it is important for central Asian countries and the international community, including China, to lay the foundations for dialogue and cooperation with the new Afghan government on the most urgent issues on the current agenda.

Pointing out that the fight against terrorism and extremism are the main areas of cooperation of the participants of the summit, President Caparov said, “I want to emphasize the increasing importance of cooperation within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. This organization is an effective platform for our countries to ensure regional security and to coordinate joint efforts to combat new terrorist threats, divisiveness, extremism and drug trafficking.”

In his speech, Kazakhstan’s President Tokayev stressed that As a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), China plays an important role in strengthening peace, stability and progress in the Eurasian region. President Tokayev said that in recent years, intra-regional cooperation has played a key role in a dialogue between states based on trust. Pointing out that the number of joint companies between Central Asian countries and China has increased and trade barriers have been lifted, President Tokayev said, “We have started decisive work to maintain order at the customs border, including the fight against immoral entrepreneurs who implement illegal schemes and create all kinds of barriers for business. I am sure that the consequences of combating such illegal acts are very close.”

Underlining the need to use the great possibilities of the “Central Asia-China” cooperation format effectively, President Tokayev stressed that trade and economic cooperation should be further enhanced in this context.

President Tokayev went on to say that Kazakhstan could increase exports worth $1 billion to China worth $1 billion, including organic agriculture and food products.

Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed support for Kazakhstan’s efforts to protect China’s independence, sovereignty and security, adding that under President Tokayev’s leadership, Kazakhstan would overcome all challenges and become stronger.

At the end of the summit, a joint statement was adopted to mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Central Asian countries and China.
