Putin, Draghi discuss Ukraine

Russia President Vladimir Putin continues to discuss developments in Ukraine with European leaders, as well as Russia’s submission of a draft security guarantees to the United States and NATO. Putin held a phone call with French Prime Minister Emanuel Macron yesterday and met with Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi today to discuss the situation in Ukraine. “Mario Draghi expressed concern about Ukraine and assessed the actions of Kiev, which refrained from fulfilling its obligations to Putin,” the Kremlin said in a statement. In the statement, Draghi also noted that exacerbating the Ukraine crisis could have serious consequences and the importance of reducing tensions in the region.

“Vladimir Putin explained Russia’s basic approaches on this issue and stressed the importance of observing the basic principle of security indivisibleness, which is also included in the OSCE documents,” the meeting was quoted as saying, adding that the draft security guarantees presented by Russia were also discussed.
