NASA wants to restart Artemis I mission

NASA continues to come up with new missions. This time, Artemis 1 announced that he wanted to restart his mission.

NASA on Wednesday announced a delay in testing the Space Launch System rocket and Orion capsule for the Artemis I lunar mission. The agency is now pursuing possible launch opportunities in April and May. The latest delay came after it put it on an expected launch in February, pushed back from a launch at the end of 2021 after a minor technical glitch.

Space missions, especially those with new equipment, face various delays. SLS and Orion hang stacked inside the Vehicle Assembly Building at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Artemis teams now aim to release Artemis I before March.

NASA has issued a statement on the matter.

The Space Agency recently issued a statement on the matter. In this context, “NASA has included additional time to complete its closing activities within the VAB before launching the integrated rocket and spacecraft for the first time. While the teams are not working on any major issues, engineers are continuing to work on final closing tasks and flight termination system tests prior to wet dress rehearsal,” he said.

NASA released a media teleconference with an Artemis I update on Wednesday. The agency stressed that the SLS is a large rocket and that the team takes care to be rigorous about testing and preparation before it is released.

There are no people on the Artemis I mission. The mission revolves around traveling around the moon. That sets the tone for NASA’s ambitious plans to return humans to the moon.
