Taiwan Foreign Minister Joseph Wu: China could create another crisis

TAIPEİ (UAV) – Taiwan’s Foreign Minister Joseph Wu said, “China is currently going through a difficult period in terms of both economic and minority rights. This could lead to China creating a new Taiwan crisis.”

Taiwan Foreign Minister Joseph Wu made remarks about China. “China is currently going through a difficult period in terms of both economic and minority rights. This could lead to China creating a new Taiwan crisis.”

Underlining that China will try to divert attention in both domestic and foreign policy due to the upcoming Taiwan crisis, Wu added that they have the power to stand up to any threat in the face of such a situation.

Minister Wu said China does not currently have the right time to attack Taiwan because of the Winter Olympics. Referring to the 2021 repatriation of Chinese Liberation Army warplanes into Taiwan’s air defense area (ADIZ), Minister Wu said he was concerned that China’s stance would continue in the future.

Minister Wu also said that democracy has disappeared in Hong Kong following the National Security Law adopted by the Beijing administration in 2020, and that the idea of “one country and two systems” of Chinese practices combined with human rights violations is nothing more than a lie.

Minister Wu stated that China has never had a say in the administration in Taiwan, adding that Taiwan should be defined as an independent country. Minister Wu also stressed that Taiwan, together with its democratic allies, will continue to work for peace in the Taiwan Strait and China Sea.
