Surpassing the Chinese film “War in Changjin Lake”, which grossed about $905 million worldwide, the film also won the title of the highest-grossing film of 2021.
According to media data analytics company Comscore, the last film to gross more than $1 billion was “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,” released in 2019.
As the second anniversary of the outbreak approaches, no Hollywood production has surpassed this level of gross.
Over the weekend, the Marvel Cinematic Universe film “Spider-Man: No Homecoming” grossed $1.05 billion.
According to Box Office Turkey data, the film, which was released in Turkey on December 17th, was watched by a total of 1,327,674 people and grossed TL 33.5 million.
No Homecoming is about the complicated events that unfolded when the unidentified Spider-Man asked Dr Strange for help. Directed by Tom Watts, the film stars Tom Holland and Zendaya.
Meanwhile, the Sony and Disney co-production has yet to be released in China, the world’s largest cinema market.
According to Comscore data, the 2019 film “Spider-Man: Away From Home” was the first Spider-Man film to gross more than $1 billion at the box office.
It also grossed $1.132 billion, making it the highest-grossing spider-man film on the record.
Prior to “Spider-Man: No Homecoming,” the James Bond film “No Time to Die” grossed $774 million, keeping it as both the pandemic and the 2021 gross record holder.
