Diplomatic sources: We are making intense efforts to extend the grain agreement again.

Diplomatic sources state that Russia has conveyed the problems it faces to all stakeholders discussed at the G20 meeting and is making intense efforts for necessary steps to be taken and the agreement to be extended again.

According to information obtained from diplomatic sources, Turkey was asked for a date proposal for the visit of Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi to Turkey. The sources noted that there would be some date proposals according to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s program, and a response would be expected from Iran afterwards.

Diplomatic sources also noted that there is intensive work on the extension of the grain corridor agreement, which will end on March 18. Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu also met with United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in Doha, and Guterres will visit Kiev.

The sources explained that the Donors Conference will not take place on March 16, and that this is due to the Turkic Council Summit. The sources added that it is likely that the Donors Conference will take place the week after the Turkic Council Summit. The preparation for the conference and the report that will form the basis for cooperation with international financial institutions continue with the World Bank, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and our Strategy and Budget Presidency. The sources added that the preparations for the conference are ongoing and that Foreign Minister Cavusoglu spoke twice on the phone with Commissioner Olivér Várhelyi yesterday for the preparations. They believe it will be a good conference.

According to sources, representatives from Turkey, Sweden, and Finland will meet at NATO headquarters in Brussels on March 9th. The sources stated that there will be no discussion of withdrawal at the meeting, but rather a review of the commitments outlined in the agreement, with a focus on whether Sweden and Finland have fulfilled their obligations. The discussions will cover specific steps taken by these countries to prevent terrorism, including the financing of terrorism, human trafficking, propaganda, and other activities related to terrorism.

Regarding the possible candidates to replace NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, whose term is ending soon, sources indicated that it is too early to comment on the news reports about potential candidates. They stated that they will share their opinions on the candidates with other NATO allies when they emerge.

Sources also stated that a technical meeting will take place in Moscow next week to prepare for the possible upcoming foreign ministers’ meeting. Although there may be some discussion of history during the technical meeting, the main focus will be on preparing for the possible meeting.

Diplomatic sources stated that after the earthquake in Kahramanmaraş, there was no condolence call to the administration in the earthquake that also took place in Syria, and that there were only efforts to deliver humanitarian aid.

“Russia’s concerns are not overcome”

Emphasizing that the problems Russia is facing regarding the grain corridor are real problems, diplomatic sources said, “The UN Secretary General has made a great effort, we have a great effort, and we have conveyed these issues to all our interlocutors at the margin of the G20, the US Secretary of State, and then the British Foreign Minister. , again Josep Borrell, negotiations with all of them are continuing, and we are transferring them to these names. Russia’s concerns, or rather all the difficulties they face, have not yet been overcome, so here we have to be honest and objective. But there is a serious effort, especially by the UN, in close coordination with the UN Secretary General, we are making great efforts to take these steps and extend the agreement again.

Sources evaluating the visit of the US Chief of Staff, General Mark Milley, to Syria, said, “The US Ambassador was invited, the necessary warnings and messages were given. They say this in the Ambassador’s statement and later in the Ministry Spokesperson’s reply to the question. But this is a fact: Regardless of whether or not this meeting is held, the US continues to support this terrorist organization,” he said.
