In a phone call with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken discussed the tensions caused by Russia’s military shipment to the Ukrainian border and called for a diplomatic solution.

Blinken and Lavrov discussed the Strategic Stability Dialogue on January 10th, the NATO-Russia Council meeting on January 12th and the Standing Council meetings on January 13th, according to the US State Department.
The statement noted:
“The minister stressed the importance of resolving the issue through diplomatic means in order to eliminate the tensions caused by Russian troops in Ukraine. Blinken reiterated the UNWAVERING US commitment to Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and underlined that any discussion of Europe’s security should include NATO allies and European partners, including Ukraine.”
U.S. Secretary of State Blinken is reportedly visiting Ukraine tomorrow.
