German Chancellor Scholz denies allegations: I had no influence over tax procedures

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has denied allegations that he helped a bank do tax evasion while he was mayor of Hamburg.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz , while serving as mayor of Hamburg, has denied allegations made by the Warburg Bank that he aided in tax evasion known as “cum ex”. “I had no influence over the tax procedures of the Bank of Warburg. There is not the slightest indication that I have given any assurance,” said Scholz, heard by the Hamburg State Assembly Committee. Scholz also said that while he was mayor, he had three meetings with Warburg officials but could not remember the contents of the talks.
