French President Emmanuel Macron spoke by phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin about the Ukraine crisis.
French President Emmanuel Macron discussed the Ukraine crisis with Russian President Vladimir Putin. No details of the phone call from the Elysee Palace have yet been released.
President Macron said earlier this week that his goal of meeting with Putin was to assess the overall situation between Ukraine and Russia, to gain clarity on the issue and to establish a dialogue.
President Macron will also hold a telephone conversation with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy at 7 p.m. local time tonight.
Meanwhile, French Foreign Minister Jean Yves Le Drian warned this morning that Russia risked invading Ukraine.
